# Strike expiry & enforcement examples Understand the 90-day window and the difference between strikes, restrictions, and bans. Operator: Cittly tech Updated: 2026-10-13 Scope: All Cittly versions Canonical: https://docs.cittly.com/strike-expiry ## Two separate strike histories Account strikes belong to an account. Channel strikes belong to a Channel. They follow separate sequences. A Channel strike is not automatically an owner account strike, and a user's account strike is not automatically a Channel strike. ## Each strike has its own 90-day window An ordinary strike stops counting toward escalation 90 days after issuance. Receiving another strike does not restart the first strike's expiry date. A strike overturned on review should not count toward escalation. An expired strike is different from a deleted moderation record. This counting rule does not establish how long reports or enforcement records are retained. Consult [privacy information](/privacy-overview) and the applicable privacy notice. ## Example: repeated account violations An account receives a first ordinary strike and warning. While it remains active, a second confirmed ordinary violation leads to a seven-day suspension. A third active strike leads to a permanent ban. Severe abuse can lead to immediate action without following this sequence. ## Example: an old strike has expired An account's only strike has passed its individual 90-day window. A later ordinary violation is assessed using the strikes still active at that time; the expired strike no longer counts toward the three-strike threshold. This does not give permission to repeat the conduct. ## Example: expiry during a suspension A suspension has its own stated seven-day period. If a strike expires during it, the suspension does not end early merely because the active count changes. Cittly can change an incorrect decision through review. ## Example: a permanent ban A permanent account or Channel ban does not automatically expire after 90 days. The 90-day rule applies to counting ordinary strikes, not to the duration of a permanent ban. The permitted formal appeal is described in [enforcement appeals](/enforcement-appeals). ## Example: a member breaks a Channel rule A single member's isolated platform violation is ordinarily addressed through their content or account. It does not automatically give every member a strike or ban the entire Channel. Repeated, owner-supported, or severe community-wide abuse is assessed under [Channel enforcement](/channel-enforcement). ## Reports do not determine the penalty by vote Many reports may draw attention to an issue, but report volume alone does not establish that a rule was violated or determine a strike count. Do not coordinate false reports or submit fabricated evidence. Good-faith reporting is welcome. ## Need the applicable sequence?
