# Frequently asked questions Quick answers about conversations, communities, permissions, and support. Operator: Cittly tech Updated: 2026-10-11 Scope: All Cittly versions Canonical: https://docs.cittly.com/frequently-asked-questions ## Why does live chat need camera and microphone access? Supported video and audio conversations use those device capabilities. Declining a required permission can make the related feature unavailable. See [permissions](/camera-microphone-permissions). ## Why is my camera preview black? Permissions are one possible cause, but not the only one. Check access, close other camera apps, and retry. If the problem remains, include device and app details in a report. See [camera troubleshooting](/camera-troubleshooting). ## Does searching mean I am connected? No. Waiting for a match and having a working conversation are different states. Check what the interface shows and whether media works. See [matching problems](/matching-troubleshooting). ## What is the difference between Random and Friends? Random is for discovering a new person for a live conversation. Friends is the community experience's way to maintain connections and continue supported interactions with accepted friends. See [private conversations](/private-conversations). ## What is a Channel? A Channel is an interest-based community. Its upcoming experience includes Posts, Live, and Members. Channel matching is intended to use the same community rather than the global pool. See [Channels](/channels). ## Can everyone watch a creator Q&A? Do not assume so. The described Q&A model is one creator speaking with one queued participant at a time. A public broadcast is a separate capability. See [creator Q&A](/creator-q-and-a). ## Does Cittly record live calls? Cittly does not record live calls. Another participant may still capture their screen or audio outside Cittly's control. See [live-chat privacy](/live-chat-privacy). ## What if someone behaves inappropriately? Leave the interaction and use the in-app Report button or form. Follow [reporting guidance](/reporting-and-appeals) if it is unavailable. Use Block where supported; its exact effects depend on the app. ## Where are deletion and recovery explained? Read [account deletion](/delete-account), including the confirmed seven-day recovery window. The window is not a promise that every backup is erased by day seven. ## Why are some guides marked Community release? They explain the upcoming expanded product and do not claim those features are already available. See [Welcome to Cittly](/about). If you need more help, use [support information](/support-information).
